Yoga

My mat-based classes practice Hatha Yoga through the methodical system of Vinyasa Krama Yoga – gradually progressing through Yoga while practicing to our own ability.

We practice Yoga through the 8-Limbs of Yoga (as set out in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras) which can bring a stillness within ourselves to understand our true nature. The journey of this is happening in every situation we are in – not just on out yoga mats or chairs – if we allow ourselves to be open and aware.

The 8-Limbs are Yamas, Niyamas, Asana (postures, physical practice on mat/chair), Pranayama (breath-awareness through technique and practice), Pratyhara (withdrawal of the senses), Dharana (concentration on an object/sound), Dhyanam (Meditation), Samadhi (Total absorption).
